Project Objectives – Furnishings
- To create the most space efficient layout of office furniture and amenity areas to accommodate a growing staff in an existing space.
- Improve the work environment to foster collaboration amongst teams and provide access to more natural light.
- Provide installation service on a compressed schedule to minimize year end disruption to productivity.
- Support corporate social responsible redeployment of furniture assets to minimize waste and impact on environment.
- Reach storage system used for both private office and open office to accommodate storage needs in close proximity to users.
- Single workstation typical used for every employee to maximize product functionality and create a minimal “kit of parts” for efficient facility management.
- Reach file cabinets and Adept screen heights of 43” created an office environment conducive to teamwork and provided natural light for every user.
- The workstation footprint was reduced using a storage spine, a single universal worksurface with a mobile secondary table along with flat screen monitor arms resulted in about 10% increased floor plate density.
- Ergonomics were improved by providing users access to natural daylight by eliminating overhead storage bins, decreasing panel heights and increasing undersurface knee space.
- Excess existing furniture was redeployed through an introduction to Green Solutions (www.gsnai.com) to ensure audited reuse, charitable repurposing, or recycling to support VW Canada’s corporate responsibility mandate.
